On May 6, 1971 Calder Race Course opened for the first time featuring the track designed by 3M. Calder Racecourse has drawn more people than any other sports franchise in Florida and over 35,000,000 people have attended races at Calder since its opening.

In 2004, Calder added a poker card room offering Texas Hold 'Em, Seven Card Stud and Omaha High/Low.

Calder Bay has two tracks:

Main Track: One Mile, oval.

Turf Course: Seven Furlongs.

Calder Summer Meet: April - October

Winter Meet: October - January

Post Times: 11 a.m.

Tampa Bay by the numbers:

Entire Grounds: 220 acres.

Main Track: one mile with 1/4 and 7/8 chutes.

Turf Course: 7/8 mile with 1/4 mile chute.
