Fairmount Park opened in 1925. The Fairmount Derby's of the '20s sent several winners to Churchill Downs that will eventually conquer the, the race is also considered one of the premier races in the country.

The one mile oval combination for thoroughbred racing constructed of clay and sand mixture. There are two chutes for six furlong and 1 1/4 mile races. Construction began 1924 by Culflash & Edwards and completed by Colonel Bradley and Matt Winn with design fashioned after Churchill Downs.

Fairmount Park has two race courses:

Main Track:One Mile, oval.

Live racing during the months of April to October- Tuesday, Friday to Sunday
